We have been told by the Obama administration that earning a lot of money is, somehow, a bad thing. They even say the big banks (again, today, the villain du jour) can't honor legal contracts with employees if those contracts call for big bonuses.
Let's say that makes some kind of perverted sense, even though a lot of those bonuses went to people who were working for $1 a year to help straighten out the mess with the understanding they would get a nice lump at the end if things worked out. The thinking is that because federal money was involved in the bailout, Obama gets to dictate to the banks what or what not they can do. If there is a grain of common sense in there anywhere, where, oh, where, is the outrage against Conan O'Brien?
The Late Night Show host works for NBC. NBC is owned by GE. GE's credit division got a $139 BILLION backstop from the government when financial institutions were being bailed out some months ago.
Now, O'Brien can walk away with a golden parachute of more than $30 million dollars while his staff gets to divvy up another $12 million.
Federal money is at risk with an arm of this company, too. Where is Obama's outrage now? Where is the liberal outrage?
There isn't any.
And why?
Could it be because General Electric is in the tank with the left wing worldwide and the big banks aren't?
It's a legitimate question. This Obama particular practice has a history. Just look at the car dealers who recently lost their franchises on direct orders from Obama-picked henchmen committees and not decided by the auto manufacturers themselves. You might be amazed at the percentage of Republican supporters lost their livelihoods.
Check it out.
